Friday night, 7:00, time for a late dinner. A buffet perhaps. Yes, indeed, a buffet of Drakes. Our first trip to the buffet table yielded a nice helping of Firemaw.
Of the three drakes, Firemaw is by far the most difficult. He has a constant, AoE that requires the tank healers to stand in LoS of the tank but out of LoS of Firemaw. To further complicate positioning you need a secondary tank that requires constant healing as well. Finding a spot to actually do this fight is quite a struggle in its own right. Due to the fire AoE, the damage classes can't stay in the fight the whole time, which makes for a very long, very difficult fight. Ultimately Firemaw has wiped us more than any other boss in the game so far.
Next we headed up to the buffet table for some side dishes. The BWL trash is decidedly non-trivial, and in fact a bit frustrating at times due to its difficulty this first time in. I don't think we managed to make it out of any of these pulls without a handful of people dying, up until the last one. The trash yielded us 3 Elementium, some weird epic leather shadow resist chestpiece, and about 60 hourglass sand at least. The hourglass sand, as it turns out, was more useful than we'd hoped...
For our second plate at the buffet we had some Ebonroc -- the fun black drake that heals himself when he hits you! We got him down pretty quickly once the tanks figured the fight out. Yum!
Our third course for the evening was Flamegor. Flamegor is heralded as the easiest boss in Blackwing Lair by a landslide, after killing him I'd have to agree. However, that didn't prevent us from wiping to him because of being way too cocky after killing the other two! :) A little more cautious approach the next pull of him yielded a successful kill.
One last trash pull, (one blue and two green wyrmguards if you're curious), and we were face to face with the last boss before Nefarian: the ever random Chromaggus. On our first lock we managed to end up with what is generally considered the hardest breath combination, Red and Bronze. Yay. This is further complicated by only having about 80 hourglass sand total. Furthermore despite them saying they fixed time lapse aggro wipe bugs, I had my aggro completely reset twice in our time playing with him. Tank switching between 3 MTs, and general panic, resulted in us getting him down to about 60% before our last attempt of the night. It was after 2:00 AM on the east coast and we had all eaten our fill of the buffet at this point. Too bad our last dish didn't settle well! We'll be coming back Saturday or Monday to finish off this meal though.
PS- I apologize for the buffet jokes, but it couldn't be helped.
