Sartura Down!
Sartura Down!

We started out Sunday planning to head to AQ20, but shortly after raid start time we realized we had enough people to delve back into AQ40 and keep working on Sartura. After our first attempt of the night, completely getting reamed, we refined our execution, improving noticably each time until we took her down. We gave a few good attempts at Fankriss next, working him down to 25% or so before calling it a night in the 40 man.

A few of us that were staying up decided to play around in AQ20 for a bit afterwards. We managed to slaughter Kurinnaxx and Rajaxx without any hangups. Annoyingly Rajaxx's trash all respawned so we had to re-clear his lieutenants, wasting a good deal of time. Next we headed to Buru who actually put up a decent fight. The second stage of the fight seemed extremely tough compared to the rest of the dungeon, and the first stage of the fight was pretty fun in its own way. The extra spell ranks alone make even a relatively difficult fight like that feel "worth it" for us, even when the rest of his drops were blue crap. Moam ... was a joke. We killed him and thought it was a trash mob with good drops or something.

Ya rly.
Ya rly.

After some entertaining and somewhat difficult trash pulls (well, as far as trash pulls go), we got to the final boss, Ossirian, at around 3:00 AM. The late hour probably made him seem harder than he really is. After a couple wipes getting a feel for the fight we took him down with lots of panic and running around like decapitated chickens. Over all, the drops felt pretty in tune with the difficulty and time investment of the dungeon, with the spell ranks being especially fun to acquire. At this point we were going to continue on to Ayamiss for the full clear but decided it was just way too late and called it.

Monday began with a trip back into AQ40 to kill Fankriss, or "Frank" as we've somehow grown to call him. With a bit better strategy devised going in and some on-the-fly adjustments we managed to kill him, and without relying on things that will be breaking next patch at that.

More trash pulls. None of the trash in AQ40 seems tedious or excessive; it's all really pretty engaging without being too hard either (Wyrmguard pulls anyone?) when done properly. Some of the raid went and took a look at Viscidus but we decided not to even bother with a wipe yet.

Trash pulls complete, we wandered into Huhuran's room and took a few stabs at her. By the end of the night we had gotten her into her enraged state pretty cleanly a few times, but didn't quite get her down. Next week though!

After a lot of the raid went to bed, a group headed back into AQ20 to kill Ayamiss, finishing off our AQ20 clear completely. Still up: Princess Huhuran, Viscidus, the Twin Emperors, Ouro, and C'Thun.
