Gruul Down!

Gruul Down!
Mar 21 2007 //

So Gruul was hotfixed tonight. It's really hard to be angry about a change like this that was so sorely needed, but I think we have a fair reason. Last night, before the nerf, we'd gotten Gruul into the 20s and we were really shaping up for a kill tonight or Thursday with a slightly stronger raid, and with full flasks. We were really about to accomplish something pretty significant, triumph over adversity, etc.

Then the hotfix goes live.

We decided to head for Gruul mid-way through our Karazhan clears for the night in light of the news. We wiped once due to some careless slip-ups (we had some people who hadn't done the fight with us before with our current working strategy at least), and then killed him almost flawlessly on our second attempt. On one hand it feels great to kill him, but it's a bit bittersweet knowing we were about to kill him in the old version.

Most importantly though, this, and a handful of other hotfixes going live just now, are really bringing the raid game to where it should be. Gruul and Magtheridon simply weren't the Onyxias of TBC the way they were intended to be. This change definitely rectifies that with Gruul, his difficulty level is now totally appropriate for the rewards. We'll see about Magtheridon soon.
